A hopeless plea for sanity [Aug. 7th, 2005|10:26 pm]
[Current Mood |indescribable]
[Current Music |Yellowcard - 'October Nights']

I know using Live Journal to vent is probably considered hopelessly sad, but in a way I'm using it as an indirect means of communication without breaking the rules of separation. I feel utterly torn and beside myself. My boyfriend and I broke up on Friday and I'm not coping especially well. It may seem trivial but when you've spent almost two years getting to know someone you consider to be your world and then to have it end quite suddenly, it hurts like hell. There's still hope. But I have to discipline myself and not cling to it. It's hard.

On a lighter note, my parents bought a new house phone and have set our answer machine to Itallian just to confuse the hell out of anyone who rings. For example, my sister today receieved a text message saying, "I've been trying to phone you but I keep getting this Spanish woman!" That amused my mum somewhat (i.e. hysterically laughing...her plan is working). The poor girl actually began to think that her phone was broken and her calls were being redirected to Spain.

It was nice to see that my mum has stored Simon's number in the new phone:) Sorry, one track mind right now. I've been so tempted to shoot the radio at work. I suppose the amount of crap artists on there make it slightly more tempting.

I apologise for my lingering depression, I know it's only been two days...
Lots of love to all! X

TONY JOE WHITE ROCKS MY WORLD! [Jun. 15th, 2005|10:08 pm]
[Current Mood |melancholymelancholy]
[Current Music |NONE!?:O]

Hey doods!:D
Why the hell am I watching Big Brother?:S
Wow, that was a crap opening line...I'm going to try and recover by saying the coolest damn people in the world (me and Debbie, obviously) went to see 3 Doors Down play live at he Astoria in London last Thursday!:D Woo!:D It was an interesting day...within half an hour of being in London we witnessed a shoplift...(a guy stealing you understand, not an elevator situated in a shop)
The duration of queuing was fulfilled with forming a 'posse' (complete with hand actions), promoting Tony Joe White in all his greatness, recording snippets of conversations on a busy London street, waving to Chris the guitarist and Debbie did her fair share over queue-pusher scaring (hehe!:D) oh and a random foreign guy complimented our dancing......

More to the point, the gig was fantastic (which means a lot coming from me since I wasn't a big fan going in), had a great time, Brad's vocals were flawless, met some AMAZING people (and wouldn't leave them alone at the station, "WE LOVE YOU! OUR HEARTS BLEED FOR YOU!!!" This was after being started on by chavs in Burger King) and I've lived in the gig tshirt for about a week :P I'm a slob, I fully accept that! And hey, it's snazzy.

My photography woop! With credit to Debbie's camera ;) Should be posting a review on a site that I'm making with Debbie soon. Will let you guys know the URL when it's looking more presentable!
In other news...had my college exhibition last Friday *GASP* It was really quiet and lacking the atmosphere that it had last year...but I got own wall!:D

Today I did some work, spoke to Jamie on the phone for the first time in AGES (shout out to J!:D) and generally just lazed around...(Bad Dawn)
Love you all!:D X

GO TEAM!!! [Mar. 28th, 2005|12:11 am]
[Current Mood |complacentcomplacent]
[Current Music |Haven - 'Together's Better' and 'Johnny Be Good' in my head]

Tonight was a lot of fun! After much persuasion I found myself returning to The Farmers Arms with Debbie, Tom, Sam and Ian G to take part in a pub quiz! Upon struggling to think of a team name, I suggested we picked a random Beatles song...after by-passing The Yellow Submarines we somehow ended up with Sergeant Pepper. I served my team well with the answers Topiary and Apple! We were horrified when quiz announcer said, "Swap answer sheets with the team next to you!" Oh, the shame :P On one round we only scored one point...but Debbie and I applauded anyway :P After some bizare hand gestures and a lot of grafitti on my arm, the scores were announced...

Yeah, we lost. The absolute last! More last than the last Malteaser :P

In other news: Dawn holds Boa Constrictor! Snakes really are slippery! My amazing discovery.

'Wake up call coffee and juice' [Mar. 23rd, 2005|02:59 am]
[Current Mood |sleepysleepy]
[Current Music |Cherry Falls, Presidents of the USA - 'Peaches']

I haven't been awake to witness 3am in a long time!
In explaination, my final major project is due in tomorrow (precisely twelve hours time!) so I am up, with coffee, cramming...or at least trying! I'm exchanging the odd bit of conversation on MSN with a guy from my class who's also up working:

"This coffee is vile but oh so necessary"
"haha. so is mine."
"nescafe instant!"

Something tells me I'll be sleeping well tomorrow night!

Sunday night was fantastic!:D Debbie wanted to escape the house so after about an hour struggling to come up with things to do, we settled for the pub. BUT with people we haven't seen in ages, our old school buddies Tom, Ian, Sam, Andy, Dan, Emilie. Everytime someone got up to go to the bar, or to use the toilet, we'd all swap seats just to confuse them when they got back. Only, when I went to the bar, and this was after quite a bit of drink experimentation, they moved TABLE! It was a good night involving the Cha Cha Slide, phallic swizzle sticks and a lot of laughter.

Back to work :S
I hope you're all enjoying SLEEPING! Grr!:P
Below is my only decent scrap of inspiration and imagination left...

'Millions of peaches, peaches for me!"

'Lately I'm sure words won't implore you to stay...' [Mar. 14th, 2005|10:26 pm]
[Current Mood |lethargicsomething]
[Current Music |Bleu - 'I Won't Go Hollywood', Haven (Acoustic Session)]

I have NO idea why I'm updating this thing, but hey!:D
So what's new in the world of Dawn? I've got a whole heap (nice word) of pictures back from The Aviators gig. They're fantastic, I've just got to do something with them...ANd the rest of my project in ONE WEEK! I'm absolutely screwed. But here's hoping.
This morning I started watching 'John Lennon - In My Life' which ironically begins with half an hours worth of footage about John's DEATH, then hopped in Ross' car and listened to cool mixtapes on the way to college! We parked in the multi storey (AKA claustraphobia central) and I trundled off to college to be greeted by a rather excited Helen. It was her birthday so Helen, Kaila, Jamie, Kerry and I went to Pizza Hut with growling stomachs, ate and were merry (in the non drunken sense. I think). We had a weird conversation about kids...Kaila's are going to be beauty queens, Kerry's are going to be mini-Darias, Helen's are going to be ginger hyper things, and I'm going to have mini-geeks and raise them as hippies!

After spending money on a weird tshirt that Sky Mangel would probably wear (:D) and a big squishy gold cushion, I got on the bus to go home. Unfortunately the Frome resident that I absolutely despise chose to sat in front of me. I've never met anyone so willing to intoxicate themselves so much to escape the world with no regards for other people what so ever. He's an alcoholic, he sniffs solvents and other weird things (ON THE BUS), smokes, and gawd knows what else. He didn't have to do much to make me feel upset and very angry. And I don't often feel angry. I forgot to mention that he almost got arrested on the bus on my birthday for being drunk and violent towards passengers but the bus driver couldn't restrain him before the police (who didn't know where Midsomer Norton was) could get there.

I cut my finger with my razor...???! I don't really know how, but I know that I should definitely not be trusted with sharp objects!:P Lots of blood, lovely.

This has been a rather cynical journal entry!!!
I hope everyone's happy:)

I'm still working on my ideal band...
I've got Nat Wason of Haven on lead guitar, and I think I might have Michael Shepard of Lovedrug on piano...Any ideas?

[Current Music |Time Spent Diving - 'Rain on Sundays']

Mad Week.
I have been out testing my journalistic skills! Sunday: Interview with half brother's best friend's band, The Aviators scheduled. They have been appraoched by several record companies, including Sony, but have not yet been signed. My dad drove me to the University of Surrey in Guildford and we spent a fair twenty minutes or so trying to find the damn building, such a confusing campus! But we arrived on time and were sat complaining about how the band had not arrived, and that the people next to us were smoking. Over an hour later my half brother strolls in and greets the people beside us and we realise that we have been sitting next to the band the whole time!

I conducted the interview (despite leaving the dictaphone in the car) and there was a round of applause and a "we were waiting for you to say that!" when I stated that the bassist looked like Kelly Jones of the Stereophonics. They were really funny guys and the gig was brilliant.

I'm a little sore at the moment because I strained the tendons in my legs at work the same day, and somehow developed an allergic rash on my hands, all from lifting and stacking Argos catalogues!?! The following day was quite nice because I was stood admiring buskers (a dude with an acoustic guitar and a pretty woman with a big cello) in the snow with some college friends, singing along to 'Golden Touch, 'High and Dry' and 'In My Place'.

Today was a lot of fun, I met with Scott, who had to suffer through my idea of a meal (mini pizza with smiley face chips!!!) and mad antics! We spent most of the day feeling the effects of the coffee which strangely enough makes me very sleepy.

Now I must go to bed and get up tomorrow thinking "AGGH! COLLEGE! I'M BEHIND AND DEMOTIVATED!" Ahem.

Goodnight All:)

[Current Music |Penfold - 'Tuesday']

Good morning!:)
Okay, now I've opened this thing to update, I have no idea what I wanted to write in the first place...
On Thursday I went to Bristol Zoo with Simon!:D I held a madagascan cockroach (by request!), chased a penguin, accidentally made an angry gesture to a big gorilla and indeified characters from 'FInding Nemo' in the aquarium!:P The baby egyptian turtles were unbelievably cute. Did I mention that I also spilled a ton of Strawberry milkshake in my bag? :S Nice.

Last night I was dreading being stuck at home, but thanfully my friend Tania from work invited me out to karaoke night at The Globe. I sang my first solo on the karaoke machine! 'Pick a Part that's New' in all its glory, with a large captive audeince!:D Then we trundled on to the Blue Boar to converse with our ex Argos chum Ellie.

I feel all ugly and spotty today but I am bracing the outside world regardless. Taking a trip to Helen's house in Bath and tomorrow will be interviewing my half brother's best friend's band who might be getting signed by Sony (oooh!) They're performing an acoustic gig in Guildford tomorrow. Can't wait! Journalist Dawn strikes back!

Take care xxxxxx

Tomorrow Never Knows [Feb. 17th, 2005|11:17 am]
[Current Mood |excitedexcited]
[Current Music |Greenday - 'Waiting' (The older stuff will always be better)]

I thought I'd scare you, I haven't updated since before Christmas...*cough* But hey, I thought I'd give my journal a little re-vamp, it needed some rock and roll ;D
So, half term...So far I have been prised away from my snuggly orange bed at 6am to film something for my mum (I tried to impress the guy who was talking us through how to use the camera by talking about white balancing...good one Dawn!) and picked up some useful stuff for the dreaded FINAL. MAJOR. PROJECT. Couldn't they have given it a nicer less intimidating name?! Anyway, Wednesday, spent the say with Mr Scott! Met up in Bath, DIDN'T buy anything in HMV (Effective disciplining...I'm broke, it was horrible), had a Latte with way too much sugar, my usual style, went back to my place to jam with guitars, listen to music, spar, sing Avril songs in weird voices and scare window cleanerz! COOL DAY:D Thursday, today: I'm going GO-KARTING!:D It's been too long! I'm going to kick some male ass! Sam, Pete and Ben won't know what's hit them;D (Hopefully not a go kart, could be unfortunate) Can't wait. Should be going to Bristol zoo tomorrow to contrive evil plans with monkeys and tease dolphins! Don't forget you promised me a teddy Simon :P And finallllly, I will most likely spend Saturday with my buddy Helen watching Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind and erm...reminiscing on childhood times with Sylvanian Families and such :P We were actually talking about painting a dolls house and making it all psychadelic and funky!! We're not sad, we just like interior design...

After one long boring paragraph I shall leave you be!
If anyone wants to send me 'Look at Me' by John Lennon, they are most welcome ;)

Lots of love, happy holidays x x x
